We sat in our favourite taverna and enjoyed the usual excellent Tuscan food and wine. Pane e Vino, in tthe world, Tommy Smith replaced his black fist with a frivolous jig as he walked the ramp for his "Fair Play" medal.

Although on the side screens the TV director ran clips of races and swimming heats, including the black power fist image, for the making of the programme, on this night, in little hillside Cortona, on a slightly airless night, there were only multi-national hugs and hand shakes, a lot of awards and much celebrating of fair play in sport. Well,  if you are reasonably well read you will probably remember the love song of J. Alfred  Prufrock by TS Eliot which included the famous couplet:

“In the room the women come and go Talking of Michelangelo“,

You will of course know who Michelangelo was and maybe even that he was born in Caprese which is in the Tuscan province of Arezzo. But who is Roberto Borgni and what his connection with the other two? We discovered some answers whilst recently in Cortona in the Tuscan hills, also in the province of Arezzo.
